Immediately when I heard we were doing this assignment, I thought of Gilmore Girls. Throughout the whole show, I always thought that Dean was a little bit weird and obsessive over Rory. I decided to use this to my advantage, and turn the happy family-friendly show into a suspenseful stalker film. On youtube, there are videos that people compiled of the Dean/Rory moments from the show. This was really helpful for me, as I watched through them and picked the best moments that freaked me out the most. From there, I compiled them into a sort of storyline, a boy seeing and asking about a girl, and then him becoming obsessive and following her around. I added the music, which aligned a scary noise with Dean turning his head- signifying the start of his obsession. I also color corrected a bit to bring the exposure down and give it a more dark and spooky look. Towards the end, I also added in the car honk and tires screeching. These noises did appear in the actual clip, but there was also happy music in the background which wouldn't make sense with how I was trying to spin the scene, so I had to take out that audio and add in my own. I also added in text, which I see a lot in trailers. It helped to break up scenes that didn't seem to have much correlation and introduced the idea of stalking into the viewer's mind. Even if someone has seen this show before, I think that my trailer would convince them that Dean is not just a boy in love with a girl... but a boy obsessed with a girl. One thing I was worried about was that I didn't edit it enough, I didn't play with sound enough or do as much editing with the clips. However, I'm not quite sure what else I could have done with it. Overall, I'm pretty happy with it and I now know that making trailer videos is not going to be my future job!
