Public Speaking

How is public speaking in the classroom beneficial to all students? (I would be speaking with teachers)

Questions:

  1. What will learning to publically speak do for their futures?

  2. Are students with social anxiety, or students with other disabilities thought about?

  3. Is this an easier assignment for extrovert or introverted students?

FatFace

A new outlet opened up in town, called "FatFace". Although it has an unappealing name, their products are great. This would give people more of an inside look, so they won't be as scared to go inside.

Questions:

  1. Why is it named FatFace?

  2. When did FatFace first become a brand?

  3. Why did an English company decide to exapand to the US?

  4. Why choose Manchester Center as a new location?

Switched Classrooms

Many teachers this year have been forced out of their rooms, into places that seem surprisingly inconvenient for many of them. With the loss of things they normally have access to, how much of this is a burden? What caused this sudden change in rooms? (talk to teachers, figure out who called for these changes)

  1. What room were you originally in? Where are you now?

  2. What inconveniences are you facing?

  3. Why was there a change in rooming

2004 - Anthony Amorim

The theme of this video is the fear of growing up.

The whole thing is shot at the feet/legs of the main character, they're followed by the camera as they're walking around their house. Standing next to measurements on the kitchen wall (referencing a line) which they're taller than, walking past old toys, albums from 2004. Everytime Amorim says "someone to take me back to 2004", there is a pair of child shoes in the background for foreshadowing. In the last scene the teen shoes stop walking, then the same child shoes from the previous shots come into the frame. the camera doesnt move as the two characters walk away, revealing the child version of the teen actor/actress leading the main character back into 2004.

Death's a Party

Death's a Party is a decently short, psychological film about a young female and her murderious tendencies. The film starts with a scene of a party, where the main actress and a boy are talking. She then asks him if he wants to go back to her place so they can hang out some more, and he agrees. However, what he doesn't know is that he just said yes to death. When they arrive at her house, she kills him, then takes a polaroid of his dead body. After it develops, she pins it onto a board with 10s of other polaroids, all of dead bodies. The final scene is the main actress at another party, asking another guy to go to her house. The film ends with both of them walking out of the shot.

Short Film

The short film has a broader focus, the whole day, rather than just the breakdown. The film starts out with the girl waking up, obviously tired and depressed. She gets up, looks at herself in the mirror, and then gets dressed. She gets her backpack, and goes downstairs to leave for school. Her mother asks if she wants breakfast, she declines, making an excuse about how it makes her feel sick later in the day. She then gets on the bus, and there is a short moment where she puts in her headphones and goes to school. After a passage of time, a scene involving lunch and her friends is played out. In this scene, she is repeatedly asked if she is hungry, and she again says no. Another bus ride showing her going home. After she returns home, she does a "check" in the mirror. She takes a measuring tape and measures each part of her body, writing down the measurements on a paper beside the mirror. After this scene, she binges. She makes a ton of food, and dissolve or jump cuts show her eating all the food. After,  there is a shot of her sitting at the table, with empty dishes all around her. During this whole scene, voices are starting to spike up, asking her if shes's hungry. Close ups on her mouth as shes taking bites and eating, showing how disgusting she feels while eating. This voices build up, causing her to have a breakdown. She runs to the bathroom, crying as she reaches her fingers down her throat. Suddenly, her sister knocks on the door, causing the voices to stop. Her sister asks if she's okay, if she can come in. The shot cuts to outside, as her sister bursts open the door after hearing crying and coughing. Her sister kneels on the ground, holding her sobbing sister. Final line: "We're going to get you help"

PSA

The PSA is a much more cut down version of the short film. It focuses much more on the breakdown of the character and the reaction of the other sister finding her sister in the bathroom, having a bulimic episode. The PSA starts off with the girl riding the bus to her house, where she gets off and pulls out her headphones. As soon as she takes her headphones off, voices start echoing in her head. They start off as one voice, taking its time speaking as well as time inbetween thoughts. As she gets closer to her house, the voices get stronger and more aggressive, overpowering her. There are also random videos of close ups on people's mouths as they are eating, showing how uncomfortable eating makes her. She gets inside, drops her bag, and runs up to the bathoom. You see her kneel down on the floor, before reaching her fingers into her mouth to make herself gag. Suddenly, her sister knocks on the door. The shot cuts to outside, where the sister is. She asks her if she can come in, asking if her sister is okay. She hears crying and coughing, causing her to open the door quickly and run inside. She also kneels down on the ground, but is holding and rubbing her crying sister's hair. The final line of the PSA is her sister saying "We're going to get you help". The tag on the end of the video is: "Eating disorders are dangerous and difficult to control. Please get help", or something along those lines.
